Although the four biggest international schools are in Luanda, you can ask in your region to find out about others that may not have a website.

Luanda International School  (LIS)

Priority for founding companies (Exxon/Esso, BP, Chevron, Schlumberger, Halliburton) and embassy families.

This is the most popular private, non-profit, coeducational day school. There waiting list is over 2 years long so you should apply as soon as possible. It offers classes from pre-school through grade 10 and it offers International Baccalaureate Primary Years programme (from Pre-Primary to Grade 6). The IB Middle Years programme is being implemented. A new campus was opened in 2003 and some of the facilities are sports fields, a swimming pool, cafeteria, art and music rooms, computer labs and a library.

The school is outside Luanda City (in Luanda Sul) and students don’t have to wear uniforms.

The Portuguese School is mostly oriented towards Brazilian and Portuguese families but English is taught as a second language. It is located in the city center and follows the European school calendar for students between the ages of 3-18.

Priority for French companies such as Total and Technip. It’s located in the city center and lessons are from preschool to the end of high school (ages 3 to 18). Instruction is in French with English as a second language. It follows the French school calendar under the direction of the French Ministry of Education, receiving guidance in the French higher education system after the 12th grade.
